For this week’s front page story, I dived into what’s fueling the new wave of private equity being invested in the energy sector, especially in exploration and production companies — where most PE funds have been invested historically — but also in oilfield service companies. I found out that, along with sky-high oil prices, it’s the shale technology driving the onshore domestic oil and gas renaissance that is attracting more private equity money to oilfield service companies.
